Build a Ramp

Anyone can do it. Volunteering to build a ramp with EmmanuWheel is more than a construction project — it is a hands-on opportunity to serve our neighbors with the love of Christ. In a single day, volunteers help restore safe access, independence, and dignity to individuals with mobility challenges across Lexington, Richland, and Saluda Counties. Whether you are measuring, cutting lumber, driving screws, or simply offering encouragement, every task plays a part in creating lasting impact.

Perfect for:

  • Church groups (men’s ministries, small groups, mission teams)
  • Corporate volunteer teams
  • Construction companies or contractor teams
  • Skilled trades professionals (carpenters, builders, handymen)
  • Fraternities and sororities
  • College campus ministries (like BCM groups)
  • High school service clubs (with proper supervision)
  • Civic organizations (Rotary, Lions Club, Kiwanis, etc.)
  • Veterans groups
  • Youth groups
  • Scout troops (Eagle Scout projects, service builds)
  • Community service organizations
  • First responder teams
  • Family volunteer teams
  • Neighborhood associations

Lead a Team

Leading a team of inexperienced volunteer ramp builders begins with having a committed leader who understands proper ramp construction and safety standards. This leader serves as both teacher and encourager — guiding measurements, overseeing materials, ensuring ADA-appropriate design, and maintaining a safe, organized worksite. Just as important, a strong partner embraces EmmanuWheel’s faith-centered mission by caring for the client beyond the build day. We ask that team leaders be willing to pray with and for the individual or family receiving the ramp, helping create not only physical access but also a meaningful ministry moment. When skilled leadership and compassionate service come together, the impact reaches far beyond the wood and nails.

Start your own Build Team

If you have an organization or a group of individuals who would like to work together regularly, consider being a Build Team Partner. You will need a group of 6-10 volunteers and a dedicated leader. You would commit to building 4 ramps per year and cover at least the cost of 2 of those ramps. We will come alongside you to help train in the areas needed, such as measuring, drawing a design, mentoring your team or caring for your client.

Reach out to Sonja at 803-201-8114, our Volunteer Coordinator, to learn more! Or fill out an Interest Form.

We can also set up a time for Chris, our Executive Director, to present the opportunity to your organization.
