The mission of EmmanuWheel is to provide wheelchair ramps to mobility-impaired individuals who cannot afford the cost of the ramps. By addressing the specific needs of mobility-impaired individuals, it is the intention of EmmanuWheel to share the love of Christ in a practical way. What a difference a ramp can make in the lives of those we serve! The Mt. Horeb UMC ramp team just completed a ramp for Ms. H. Ms. H. has to use a walker and had fallen several times. Her home’s primary ingress/egress point consisted of three narrow circular stairs with no handrail. Her new ramp gives her a safe way to access her home and eliminates the risk of her falling again.
The Mt. Horeb UMC ramp team had to design a building plan to avoid a septic tank and a tree to complete a ramp for Ms. T. Together, a workable solution was created. Now Ms. T. can use her walker to get outside and enjoy her yard with the family!
Working with EmmanuWheel's Managing Director, members of the Mt. Horeb UMC ramp team built and installed a ramp for Ms. P. Ms. P. had fallen a number of times on a dilapidated set of steps and only ventured out when absolutely necessary. Family members joined the ramp team to complete not only safe egress, but a small porch where Ms. P. can enjoy some time out of doors.
God provided good weather and great volunteers from the Mt. Horeb UMC ramp team to complete the build and install of a ramp for Ms. G. Another magnificent build, Mt. Horeb!Mrs. M. could not get out of her home. The stairs leading to her porch were rotting and missing wood. The Kittiwake Baptist Church Blue Team created a ramp onto the front screened in porch, built a wraparound ramp reaching the street, and reversed the door openings so the door would not hit the ramp. Now her caregivers can enter easily as well. You are amazing Kittiwake Baptist Blue Team!Despite a few weather-related delays, the Mt. Horeb UMC ramp team was finally blessed with perfect weather allowing the team to complete a ramp for Ms. E. and her son. Thank you to the wonderful volunteers who built this ramp!
God provided a break in the weather to give Ms. L. a wonderful birthday present - safe access in and out of her home! She was thrilled with the new deck, ramp and side stoop that the team was able to build and install for her. Thank you to the Mt. Horeb UMC volunteers who made this possible!
Ms. G. had an existing ramp and a small landing at her home, but the structure was falling apart and many of the boards were rotted. Thank you Kittiwake Baptist Church Grey Team for coming to Ms. G's rescue! She now has a safe ramp and a small porch she can be proud of.EmmanuWheel built a ramp for Ms. H. in 2010, however, a large branch fell recently and broke one of the rails. The Les and Friends ramp team repaired the broken rail and replaced some deck boards and a gate for Ms. H. Thank you to the Les and Friends team!Ms. N. has a number of medical issues and is on oxygen. She was having trouble climbing her front steps even with help from a friend. The Latino Lions, led by Mr. Cliff, built a 30-foot ramp for her. God gave the team a beautiful workday :-). Friends of Ms. N. even provided lunch for the ramp team! Ms. N. was surprised at the size of the ramp that will accommodate her needs.The Mt. Horeb UMC ramp team completed another successful project Mr. A., a 16-year-old going through chemotherapy and radiation treatments for a brain tumor. As this family goes through a very difficult time, the team was able to share the love of Christ in a practical way by addressing a specific need.
Mr. S. is 88 years old and has fallen several times trying to use the steps to his home. Shandon UMC came to his rescue and constructed this beautiful ramp. Mr. S. was moved to tears knowing he can safely get in and out of his home without fear of falling again. Thank you Shandon UMC and thank you to Mr. S.'s next door neighbor for providing a wonderful lunch for the ramp team!
The good Lord saw a need and provided a break in schedule allowing the Mt. Horeb UMC ramp team to build a ramp for Pastor. B. Pr. B is suffering with cancer and had great difficulty getting in and out of his home for treatments. His access is now much easier and safer.The Latino Lions Club and a few members of Mt Horeb UMC's ramp team joined forces to construct and install a ramp for Mr. C. The project was tricky as the teams had to bring the ramp section off of the landing platform at an angle due to the curve of the sidewalk. After a lot of planning and on-site engineering, Mr. C. has a beautiful ramp to use for safe ingress and egress to his home. Mr. C. was in a care facility waiting for a ramp to be able to come home. His son was beyond pleased with the result and can’t wait for his dad to be able to use this ramp!Mr. D. urgently needed a new ramp. He is a wheelchair-bound amputee who could not safely enter or leave his home via the existing ramp. With the Lord’s love and guidance, and with a lot of very dedicated volunteers, the Mt. Horeb UMC ramp team was able to turn a big challenge into an even larger opportunity to accommodate Mr. D's needs.Shandon UMC partnered with EmmanuWheel to build a ramp for Mr. L. - a recent stroke victim. Mr. L. is able to stand, but needs support to walk and had not been outside for the past 2 months. This ramp will allow him to go outside and enjoy his yard :-).Due to the extreme heat we are experiencing, it took a few trips and a lot of prayer by the Mt. Horeb UMC ramp team to complete a ramp for Ms. H. She now has safe egress from her home to her carport :-) .A hot day and a downpour did not dampen the spirits of the Mt. Horeb UMC ramp team installing a replacement ramp for Ms. K. Her previous ramp was in poor condition and unsafe to use. Thankfully, God’s servants gave her safe and much-needed home accessibility.
Galatians 6:9-10 Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary. So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith. Ms. M. is blind. Even with her husband's help, it was difficult to safely climb stairs. Mr. and Mrs. M. were so thankful for their new ramp! Thank you to the Kittiwake Baptist Blue team for their willingness to help this wonderful couple.Mr. C. is 101 years old. A ramp build many years ago rotted to the point of danger for him. The old ramp was removed and the Kittiwake Grey team built a new ramp. Thank you to Mr. C's family for reaching out to EmmanuWheel so we could be of service to Mr. C.Ms. S. had a lung transplant and has additional health issues. Steps were dangerous for her even with assistance from her husband. Thank you, Riverbend Community Church team for your servant hearts! Mr. and Mrs. S. were moved to tears by the blessing of their new ramp.
The Mt. Horeb UMC ramp team is an example of many volunteers working together to produce a miracle for our neighbors in need of wheelchair ramps. One team member designs the ramp. Another group of volunteers comes together to pre-build much of the ramp. The ramp is then delivered to the construction site where another team of volunteers continues the build and installs these carefully designed and well-constructed ramps. This ramp was for Ms. J. Thank you, volunteers, for being the hands and feet of Jesus.Ms. N. has health issues and both Mr. and Mrs. N. use walkers. Getting up and down stairs safely was almost impossible. Thank you, Serve Saluda, for the volunteers that built this large ramp! A friend of the family provided the materials for the ramp.Ms. M. has advanced neuropathy and uses a walker and wheelchair. Getting in and out of the home for doctor appointments was a struggle for Ms. M. and her husband. Thank you to the team from NE Presbyterian for answering the call to help this family!The Mt. Horeb UMC ramp team replaced a rickety, congested porch with a spacious new deck and restored a safe set of steps for Mr. P. and his family. His family struggled to get Mr. P. and his wheelchair situated for the lift they acquired. Now Mr. P can maneuver himself and Mrs. P. can use the steps to get to her car.
Multiple health conditions keep Ms. P. confined to a wheelchair. A recent health issue required rehab and the rehab facility mandated a ramp prior to release. Thank you to the Kittiwake Baptist Grey team for springing into action quickly to help build Ms. P. a safe and attractive ramp allowing her to complete her recovery at home.The very first ramp built by Mill City Church in Cayce produced a beautiful and safe way for Ms. E. to enter and exit her home. Thank you Mill City, for doing such a great job!Ms. M. suffers with muscular dystrophy. The Mt. Horeb UMC built a ramp system for her in 2019, but she recently relocated and was having difficulty getting in and out of her new residence. Ms. M. was pleased and very grateful for His gift.
Ms. M. is a senior citizen needing many home repairs and a safe ramp to allow entry to her home. Thank you to Homeworks for the partnership with EmmanuWheel and CIU students! Homeworks replaced her roof and completed other repairs to her home. The organization also provided funds and an awesome group of college students to assist EmmanuWheel with the ramp. The weather was perfect and we had a great time working together.A HUGE thank you to Palmetto Citizens Federal Credit Union for sponsoring and providing volunteers to build a ramp for Mr. H.! What a great day it was! An awesome team of people were such a blessing to a wonderful family. Praise God!The Chris and Friends team was able to get Ms. H.'s ramp back in good shape! After some much needed repairs, Ms. H. can use her ramp without keeping track of which boards to avoid. She also has a nice sturdy handrail now.Mr. G. needed a ramp to allow him to use his electric wheel chair. He was very thankful of all of the volunteers from the Mt. Horeb UMC ramp team that made this happen for him!Ms. R. recently had hip replacement surgery and could not be released from the hospital without a safe way in and out of her home. Thank you to the Swansea Baptist build team for installing a ramp in time for her to come home and start the healing process!Ms. B. loves to spend time in her neighborhood in her electric wheelchair, however 2 steps were keeping her from safely reaching the sidewalk. Now, she can go outside to spend time with her friends and neighbors. What a blessing for her neighborhood!Mr. V. was in an accident and fractured the vertebrae in his neck. He couldn't be released from the hospital without a safe way in and out of his home. Thank you to Radius Saluda for sponsoring this ramp build and to Swansea Baptist for the hard work to build and install the ramp!The Kittiwake Baptist Blue ramp building team had the pleasure of building a safer way to enter and exit Mr. R's home. An existing ramp was there, however it was too steep and it was slick on rainy days. Mr. R. once fell down while using the existing ramp. The family was so happy to have the new ramp! The cross in the completed ramp picture came from the ground where the team cut the roots to place the ramp.Mrs. B. suffered a stroke that left her unable to walk. She is blessed with a wonderful family to care for her, but they were struggling to get her in and out safely. Thanks to the Lexington Presbyterian ROMANS team, the family now has a safe way to get her in and out.Watch the Mt. Horeb UMC Ramp Team build a ramp for Ms. B.!Ms. F. has a rare degenerative condition that made getting up and down her steep steps very difficult. Thank you to the Lexington Presbyterian ROMANS team for building her a beautiful and much needed ramp.

This beautiful ramp was constructed by Chris's D Group - a group of high school boys. Ms. B previously had a steep ramp that was slick during rain. Recently she fell on the ramp. She is thankful that she doesn't have to worry about falling again :-). |
